The Rule of Law
It’s just after the noon hour, and there’s been a flurry of activity today. In my recent interviews, I have focused on the central issue in the two challenges which have been filed in this State Senate race, one by Democratic leadership and one by Republican leadership. And that issue is very basic: in order to properly and legally get on the ballot, each candidate running for election has an obligation to follow the law. As legislators, we go to Springfield to craft and pass laws. Before being given that opportunity, it’s important to show at a threshold level that we are willing and able to follow the law. Soon, a Will County judge will determine if my opponent’s campaign violated the body of law regarding properly getting on the ballot. As I said on WJOL a few days ago, the ruling of the judge will be respected and there will be no appeal. Either way, I look forward to getting back to the issues that truly matter to Will County, such as creating and retaining jobs so that men and women in my district have the opportunity to go to work every day, earn a living wage, and provide for their families. Creating and retaining jobs right here in Will County has been and will continue to be one of my top priorities. I look forward to seeing you out on the campaign trail!
